Harnessing the growing power of wool
Growing that's good for the planet
A research startup developing carbon friendly wool growing media and wool based fertilisers
For wool farmers
We want to create value added products that pays a good wool price
For growers
We are creating a consistent, local, sustainable growing media and planet friendly wool based fertilisers.
For supporters
If you think you can support us, we'd love to hear from you.
About us
We realised that growers needed a product that was local and sustainable
While researching indoor growing we realised three things:
- growers need a growing media that is consistent, local and sustainable
- wool farmers are struggling to get a good price for their wool
- wool has great potential as a growing media and fertiliser

What we do
We are researching a sheeps wool growing media
Join us on the journey as we aim to make the world's most sustainable, reliable growing media. Sheeps' wool has so many great qualities that can work for growing, especially here in New Zealand
- Wool fibres can hold water inside them without feeling wet, avoiding waterlogging
- Wool is renewable, biodegradable and even recyclable as fertiliser
- New Zealand wool has a neutral carbon footprint, setting a world standard.
- Wool is slow to biodegrade, making it useful in a commercial growing setting
- We can even sequester the carbon from our waste

The introductory session to the Sprout Agitech accelerator programme was interrupted today with a short celebration as Agmardt confirmed that we have been approved for a small grant to match the Callaghan funding. This means we can focus on trials and further development of our engineering design for an automated line that works for our unique process. It also means we can file a provisional patent with Australia.News
Turners & Growers plan trial
From the first moment we spoke, Turners & Growers shared our enthusiasm for the potential of wool as a growing media. We aim to start our first commercial trial in September.
